Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
This is so true! Our struggle is not with people but with the spirits that have attached themselves to that person. The evil presence in this world is very strong. Job 1:7 the LORD said to satan, “From where do you come?” Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.”
He will sneak his way in any way he can if given the chance. He loves it when people worship other Gods. He loves it when people say God is not real. He loves it when people read everything but Gods word. He loves it when people make excuses of why they are not close to God, saying its because of what someone did or something someone said to them, maybe even those who call themselves Christians. He loves when we gossip. He loves it when we say its OK God doesn’t mind if I use a cuss word now and then or am around those who do. Its OK if I lie now and then. Yes, I am sure satan smiles and smirks and laughs a million times a day because of what we say is OK with God.
But we can defeat satan. How you ask? Pray – Matthew 6:13 Jesus taught His Disciples how to pray, one part of that prayer says, “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” Another is James 4:7 “Submit yourselves, then to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Another is Ephesians 6:10-11 “Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
When satan tried to temp Jesus, Jesus used the word against satan. Matthew 4: 3-11 And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, He will command His angels concerning You; and on their hands they will bear You up so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.” Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written, You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.” Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory and he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.
Yes, we fight many enemies in this life but the strongest one is in our own life. We must and need to stay alert to satans ways and when we hear something coming from us that is not of God put a stop to it right then. Put a stop to the devils schemes. Don’t allow him to get a toe in, much less a foot, because when you do soon he will make himself at home.
Remember to put on and keep on the full armor of God. Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Remember stay strong in the Lord. Stand on the Rock….. because when you do…. “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” (Romans 16:20)
